ATTENTION! Post 205 is conducting a Ceremonial Flag Retirement on Flag Day, Monday, June 14, at 1830 (6:30 PM) on the waterfront at the Moss Creek Community. Attendance by the Post membership is needed to present a positive and respectful program, with members presenting flags for retirement by burning. The dress uniform is requested to be worn. There are a number of duties which our membership will be requested to perform. Members should plan on arriving by 6 PM As it is a long drive from the Moss Creek gate to the flag retirement area.
Bluffton American Legion Post 205 is collecting worn, torn and faded American Flags to be disposed of properly at retirement ceremonies conducted in accordance with United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10. There are a variety of traditional and respectful ways to properly dispose of flags. The American Legion guidance and script for proper disposal can be found here.
Flags collected by Post 205 are disposed of in coordination with the Bluffton Township Fire District, Flags can be dropped off from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. any day at the following Fire District stations:

A Post 205 Flag 'Retirement' event was held on February 22, 2024 at the Bluffton Fire Department Training Academy on Ulmer Road. We appreciate the cooperation of the Fire Department not only collecting the flags from all the Bluffton stations but also the use of the Academy site to allow us to 'retire' the flags in accordance with the United States Flag Code.
