Flag Retirement Events 2025
On Saturday June 14, 2025, Dennis J. Becker Post 205 sponsored a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Bluffton Fire Department's Maintenance & Training Facility. In attendance was District 16 Commander Mark Dorsey, Past District 16 Commander Jim DeFrehn, and realtors from Weichert, Realtors-Coast Properties. We would to thank the Bluffton Fire Department for letting Post 205 use their facilities.
Bluffton American Legion Post 205 is collecting worn, torn and faded American Flags to be disposed of properly at retirement ceremonies conducted in accordance with United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10. There are a variety of traditional and respectful ways to properly dispose of flags. The American Legion guidance and script for proper disposal can be found here.
Flags collected by Post 205 are disposed of in coordination with the Bluffton Township Fire District, Flags can be dropped off from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. any day at the following Fire District stations:
- Station 30 - Old Town, 199 Burnt Church Rd, Bluffton
Station 31 - New Riverside, 31 Red Barn Drive, Bluffton
Station 32 - Callawassie, 155 Callawassie Drive, Okatie
Station 33 - Moss Creek, 12 Buckingham Plantation Drive, Bluffton
Station 34 - Sun City, 25 William Pope Drive, Okatie
Station 35 - Headquarters, 357 Fording Island Rd, Bluffton
