The American Legion Department of South Carolina headquarters is located in Irmo, SC which is just northwest of Columbia off I26.  The current Department Commander is John Britt of Laurens Post 25.  He was elected at the 2018 SC Department convention and his one-year term expires next May at the 2019 Department convention.  The Department Adjutant is Nick Diener of Headquarters Post 172.  The Department Executive Director is Maggie May who is headquartered at the department headquarters in Irmo.  Click here to go to information on how to contact the named officials.

The current district commander is Jim Defrehn of Post 95.  He is also the Commander of that post.  District Commanders are elected for two-year terms by the commanders of the constituent posts who cast votes consistent with the number of members of the post.  The next election for District Commander is in April 2018, and the elected person will be installed at the Department convention in late May 2018.
